Some people don't like trackpads on laptops, so the idea of using one on a desktop machine seems worse. The Magic Trackpad really is a great device and so much easier than using a mouse. For one thing, of course, it doesn't move, so desk space ins't an issue. The major feature is that you can use all of the gestures from a laptop trackpad on your desktop machine. Swipe back and forth between browser pages or photographs, swipe up and down through pages of a document, or pinch and spread to zoom images. There's a host of macOS features that can be operated or accessed using a trackpad. Magic Trackpad 2 is a slightly different design - the working area is quite a bit bigger, without the overall size of the device growing that much. The whole of the surface is now used. A slightly lower profile makes it even more comfortable to use. The addition of Force Touch with enabled applications, expands your options in the same manner as it does on iPhone 6 and above. The track pad pairs with the computer automatically when plugged in with the provided Lightning to USB cable, which is also used to recharge the built in battery. Magic Trackpad 2 uses Bluetooth 4, so will only work with newer Macs, unlike the original model which will work with any Bluetooth enabled Mac. I've used both versions and I love them, but MT2 is an improvement on the original.Vollständige Rezension lesen

When my old Trackpad started behaving erratically, I wasn’t sure how to replace it. The Trackpad 2 had very mixed reviews, and a lot of old Trackpad users seemed to hate it for various reasons. So I looked for a straight replacement on eBay, but then found a very nice looking Trackpad 2 at an incredible price and decided to try it. After all, if I didn’t get on with it, I could easily sell it again without loss. I have a feeling that the previous owner must have been one of those who hated the new model, since he sold it so cheaply. But I just love it. Within seconds of plugging in a Lightning cable, it was installed and worked with exactly the same setup as my old Trackpad. An hour later, the battery was at 100%, and I unplugged the cable. Bluetooth kicked in immediately with none of the usual pairing fuss. I’d say that even the feel of it is the same as my old pad, and I’m very fussy about tactile feedback. I had assigned left and right clicks to the left and right corners, and that’s how the new pad works too, with the “haptic engine” emulating the clicks very well. Mind you, like with my old pad, I have all touch-to-clicks switched off. They never worked for me, and erratic clicks drove me mad. But hey, no problem, just deselect them in the setup. I struggled a little with the new "force click", but I can get used to that. Some reviews make much of new Trackpad having a larger work surface due to losing the battery compartment. The new pad is a about an inch wider, but the same height as the old one, so it’s got nothing to do with the battery compartment. If anything I prefer the smaller size - it was easier to move on the desktop - hence the loss of one star.Vollständige Rezension lesen

I bought this because the 1st gen required AA batteries which I spent my life replacing or charging repeatedly. I upgraded both the trackpad and the keyboard to keep in step with the Apple ecosystem. The haptic feedback is a nice feature and force touch can be a very handy tool. I have read reports that the battery life is able to reach up to 1 month between charges, I cannot confirm or deny this as I am still only 2 weeks into owning the device but at this early stage it seems consistent with what others are saying. The only negative I have is the actual 'click'. Whilst I accept that it doesn't perform in the same manner as the previous generation the click on the new trackpad feels somewhat mediocre when pressing down compared to what I have been used to. On the whole this really is nitpicking and I am more than satisfied with the overall package.Vollständige Rezension lesen

Bought this to compliment my iMac. The price from Apple was like a second mortgage so went thru eBay. This is much better than Trackpad1, more subtle movement, not battery powered, great design & look. Keeps the desk looking tidy. I’m still getting used to it but convinced that it will be better than the mouse.

My original trackpad, ie the type with the two AA batteries became very suspect following ages of a maddening situation where the cursor would keep jumping backwards within the text. Despite many similar situations experienced by other Mac users and countless solutions which came to nothing, I finally bit the bullet and forked out for what is a typically expensive Apple product. That said, the Magic Trackpad seems to have cured the jumping cursor problem (for me at least). Its plusses are its larger area, shallower incline, very smooth surface and finally not needing to buy AA batteries for it as it's recharged via USB when necessary. As such, the plusses outweigh its cost.
