Heavy Rain is a high-def psychological thriller; an adventure game with action-oriented elements and a dark storyline that is as disturbing as it is compelling. The noir plot follows the lives of four largely unrelated individuals, all of which have been affected by a serial murderer on the loose. Each with a different motive, the characters seek to end the gruesome spree of the "Origami Killer," so-called for the folded paper creations left on murder victims. <br><br>Players navigate the game world using the controller's left stick to look around and the trigger to move, squeezing harder to run faster. Interaction with objects comes through context-sensitive buttons. Fights, chases, escapes, and other fast actions are accomplished in quick-time event style, as players must punch in a button sequence, move the analog sticks in a particular direction, or shake the controller, quickly and accurately following onscreen cues for success. Each decision and action can influence the development of the plot, and even the ultimate survival of the four main characters depends on the choices the player makes throughout the game.<br><br>The "Director's Cut" edition includes the previously released add-on content and the game's official soundtrack. PlayStation Move support, which was added to the original Heavy Rain post release, is also featured.

Worth buying and playing through several times
This game is the next evolution of the "choose your own adventure" books I read as a child. Instead of a game, think of it more as an interactive movie. There are several outcomes depending upon the actions of the player and every action or lack thereof, has a consequence. The game makes you care about the characters, the voice acting is very well done, and the story is compelling. If I could give this game 4.5 stars I would. My only gripe, and keep in mind it is a very, very small gripe, is that the controls and camera can be a little difficult to use at some points in the game.This game is the next evolution of the "choose your own adventure" books I read as a child. Cinematic and fun to watch, but hard to play for the wrong reasons.
Extremely creative game. They really deliver on their goal of making this a very cinematic experience. I won't say anything about the story or my personal view points on that. One thing I will say as a word of warning: This is best played on a LARGE screen. Button prompts (X,square,O,triangle) are horribly hard to make out on our tv screen. They aren't color coded in the slightest and it's super easy to get button prompts confused. Walking controls are awkward and somewhat difficult to get a handle of, but as far as I know that's a common complaint.Extremely creative game. Awesome game
I don’t play video games much but bought this because it sounded up my alley. It’s sort of a true crime/choose your own adventure game with 17 possible outcomes. Already finished one ending, 16 more to go!

If you like story driven games and no action and screaming "jason" this is the game for you
Not a bad looking game for ps3 a little boring from the gameplay side of things but I knew it was story based before buying

This is a game made into a form of a movie. It will keep you on the edge.
This deeply moving adventure adapts to your every action and is not to be missed. The Good - Powerful and emotionally engaging narrative. Story continually adapts to your actions. Unique controls convey drama and tension. Highly detailed characters and environments. & Stirring soundtrack. The Bad - Plot holes and heavy-handed villains. Technical issues break immersion. & Poor movement controls.This deeply moving adventure adapts to your every action and is not to be missed. The Good - Powerful and emotionally engaging narrative.
